Tachomaster is one of the few UK tachograph vendors that publishes its prices and lets you try the product without a sales call. This page compares the two on publicly available facts, including the several things Tachomaster does that we do not.
Tachomaster, from Road Tech Computer Systems, has been analysing tachograph data since the mid-2000s and is one of a small number of UK vendors that puts its rates on a public page rather than behind a demo form. It offers a 28-day trial that asks for no financial information, imposes no minimum term, and its pricing page goes to the trouble of answering awkward operational questions — agency weeks, holiday entry, previous-employer data — before you have to ring anyone. That is unusually good practice in this market, and it is why an honest comparison is possible at all.

Earned Recognition
Tachomaster offers a DVSA Earned Recognition module. TachoAssist is not a DVSA Earned Recognition validated IT supplier and cannot transmit ER KPI data. If you are in the scheme, or applying to join, that settles it.
Analogue
Tachomaster handles analogue charts alongside digital records, and its published vehicle charge applies to digital vehicles only. TachoAssist works with digital tachograph files only.
Trial
Their trial runs twice as long as ours and is advertised without feature restrictions. Neither product asks for payment card details to start — but 28 days is 28 days.
Track record
Road Tech has been in this market since long before we existed, holds ISO 27001 certification, publishes large processed-volume figures and has native driver apps. Scale and longevity are legitimate reasons to choose a supplier.
Four differences that are checkable rather than a matter of opinion.

Ten drivers at £1.00 per driver per week is £40, plus ten digital vehicles at 50p per vehicle per week is £20. Billing is in weekly increments, in arrears.
TachoAssist Business
Ten unique drivers analysed at £2.50 each. Vehicles and vehicle unit analysis are included. No VAT is charged on TachoAssist prices.
Read it carefully
A four-week period and a calendar month are not the same length, VAT treatment may differ, and the two products do not contain the same features. Treat this as an order-of-magnitude illustration and confirm both current prices before you act on it.
Stated plainly, because you will find out in the first week anyway.
If your buying decision turns on any of those, a different supplier is the right answer, and Tachomaster covers several of them.
The honest summary.
You need Earned Recognition, you still run analogue charts, you want infringement letters with driver acknowledgement built in, or you would rather buy from a supplier with twenty years of UK track record.
Your cost per driver matters, you run into the EU and want Mobility Package depth and indicative per-country fine estimates, you use agency or occasional drivers, or you want a browser tool with nothing to install.
You are not sure. Both trials are free and neither asks for payment card details, so the cost of finding out is an afternoon rather than a contract.
