Vehicle Unit analysis map showing recorded vehicle positions and border-crossing events

Add the vehicle side of the tachograph record.

A driver-card download centres on a person. A Vehicle Unit file centres on the tachograph fitted to a vehicle. Reviewing both helps an operator understand which drivers were detected, what the unit recorded and whether events or faults need attention.

Vehicle Unit analysis is included in the Business plan alongside fleet review, API upload/import and archiving.

One vehicle profile, several kinds of evidence.

Identity and drivers

Review registration and tachograph details, detected driver cards and available download history in the same vehicle workspace.

Events and faults

Follow card events, faults, power interruptions and other VU records in date order with a focused vehicle timeline.

Downloads and reports

Keep the original upload and file history, then create a vehicle report for the date range needed by your review.

See where the vehicle was recorded.

Compatible Vehicle Unit data can contain GNSS positions and border-crossing events. TachoAssist puts those historical records on a map so an operator can review where the vehicle was recorded at the relevant time.

Not live tracking: the map is built from records in uploaded tachograph files. It does not show the vehicle’s current location.

Questions

Vehicle Unit analysis FAQ

What information is in a Vehicle Unit .DDD file?

Depending on the tachograph and download, a VU file can include vehicle and tachograph identity, detected drivers, activity, events, faults, odometer records, downloads and recorded GNSS or border-crossing points.

Does a Vehicle Unit file show where a vehicle was?

Where compatible records are present, TachoAssist can plot recorded locations and border-crossing events from the uploaded VU file on a map. This is historical tachograph data, not live tracking.

Which TachoAssist plan supports VU files?
